Check ignition and may God's love be with you

My world has been crazy lately. Over the past couple of days I have been going to several end-of-year events at my son's school. I've been very busy running back and forth to school, getting meals ready and putting kids to bed. Unfortunately this means that I fell behind on checking out my Twitter and Myspace pages. Last night when I logged in I was devastated to find that one of the sweetest men I have met in the industry, Tom Wong (whose real name was Herbert Wong), was murdered by an ex-associate of his, Steve Driver.  The last time I was in LA I costarred with both of these men at Ultima DVD Studios for femdomcuckolding.com,  Ballbustingpornstars.com,  and Armpitsgirls.com.  This was my first ball kicking experience and Tom was very sweet and amazingly fun to work with. He had an amazing sense of humor and his laughter and smile lit up the room. After we were done shooting, we kept in contact through Twitter and email. In true nerd girl fashion, the last thing we talked about was the geeky T.V. shows we were watching (me Buffy & Angel, him Smallville). I am deeply saddened by his loss and my heart goes out to all of the guys at Ultima DVD and his family.

As I mentioned, I had also worked with Steve. When we met he was suffering from a head cold and a hangover and seemed a little creepy to me. There was something about him that seemed off, but i suppose I just chalked it up to him not feeling well.  Apparently he had been living at the studio but was not working up to snuff and was asked to leave the company and the studio by June 2nd. According to an article published in LA Weekly, Steve entered the studio on June 1st and began attacking people with a samurai sword.  Whe Tom rushed to their aid he was stabbed in the stomach and later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. Even typing it makes me furious. I really do not, and never will, understand how someone can get to that point where being upset turns into a killing spree.  I called my friend Sophie Dee and talked to her about it. She had also worked with Tom and was saddened and shocked by the news.  She reminded me that anyone could have been there.  Ultima DVD often shoots at night, so there could have been any amount of people there including me or Sophie or any number of people we know. After the attack, Steve got into his car and drove off with the sword. As far as I know he has yet to be caught, and there is now a reward out for any information that will lead to his capture. I hope he gets caught and I'm really not sure what I hope gets doen to him, but I want him to feel the pain he has caused so many people by taking such a wonderful person from the world.

I started to post updates about the situation on Twitter.  I received more news and talked to more people who had worked with Ultima DVD. I also recieved several message that asked how a person so clearly unbalanced could be allowed in the industry.  I even recieved a message that said, "Welcome to porn we have our fair share of ex-felons and criminals ...". I responded saying that we also have college grads, business moguls, and artistic geniuses: In a lot of ways, the porn world is just a microcosm of the mainstream, like a subculture everyone gets to watch.  There are felons and college grads no matter where you go. I am tired of the stereotype that the porn industry is made up of damaged, drug-addicted stupid felons that can't find any other work. It bugged me more when someone said that there were no more than 10 college grads or educated people in the industry. So I took an impromptu poll via Twitter on how many people in the biz have Bachelor's degrees. The response was brief, but decisively more than the "ten at most" another guy in the industry tried to tell me. At my last count there were over a dozen people that I talk to that are college grads. Tera Patrick has a degree in microbiology and was a Registered Nurse before getting into porn. Bobbi Starr graduated from a conservatory and plays the oboe professionally.  I am sure there are even more people out there with degrees. I have a BA in Art, as do several other girls I've talked to like Ruby Violence and Amber Chase. We are not a group of broken idiots just making sex videos because our lives are otherwise empty, we're people who like sex and think getting paid to do it on film is pretty fucking awesome.  My point is that murder is a tragedy, and no one should simply shrug this off and say that it comes with the territory, especially not others in the industry.  Tom may you rest in peace, you will be sorely missed.
